MyLeadScout uses AES-256-GCM — the same encryption standard used by banks, governments, and top-tier cloud providers — to protect your Google Maps API key.
Your API key is sent over HTTPS to our server. It never touches our client-side code.
AES-256-GCM encrypts your key with a unique IV (initialization vector) and generates an authentication tag.
Only the encrypted form is saved to our database. Format: iv:authTag:ciphertext. The plaintext is never stored.
Your key is decrypted in server memory only when executing a search, then immediately discarded. Never logged.

With 2²⁵⁶ possible combinations, brute-forcing the key would take billions of years with current technology.
GCM authenticated encryption
Galois/Counter Mode provides both confidentiality and integrity — if anyone tampers with the ciphertext, decryption fails automatically.
Unique IV per encryption
Every time your key is encrypted, a fresh random Initialization Vector is generated, ensuring the same key produces different ciphertext each time.
